Marvel Digest : WandaVision (ep. 6)

  Don't Mess with Wanda Episode 6 : All-New Halloween Spooktacular! Hello Earthlings!!! I know I've been away for long and I also remember promising I would post more consistently, which I have honestly been trying to do but I guess school had other plans. Athough,now I do think I have a more steady and hopefully better routine. Do not forget to head over to my patreon and I will leave a link here . I do have some further announcements which I will happily leave till the end of this post but until then, enjoy todays pretty brief article. Can I just start by saying I am loving this new Wanda. She is ruthless, cut-throat, and ready for any one that wishes to step in her way. I have to say, we love a determined Queen. But enough with that. The twins have grown even more!!! Billy is looking more and more like Pietro everyday. Which is ironic considering Tommy is supposed to be Pietro's "evil spawn". lol. I did, however, did not like Pietro's outfit. I would have h...

X-MEN RUINED!!!

Why I think Fox ruined X-Men

Hey Earthlings!!! Long time no see, lol! Before we get into the topic for today, I just want to know how you guys are??? I forgot to add a link in my last blogpost where I mentioned #justiceforjohnnydepp, unfortunately I cannot leave a link to the petition but you can find out more information through online searching.

Sooo...today’s topic is something I talk and think about frequently, how fox ruined x-men.

Background on Fox;

Fox is an American broadcasting company founded almost 35 years ago. It was found by Rupert Murdoch and Barry Diller.

Background on X-Men;

X-Men is an American superhero film series based on the comics written by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, published by Marvel Comics.
In the series, the x-men typically fight for peace and equality between humans and mutants and long for co-existence.

The gradual decrease in quality production;

Now...the gradual decrease in quality seen in the x-men movies in terms of costuming and production is not as obvious until you see it. For me watching the movies out of pure love and enjoyment for the series, I never noticed. It wasn’t until I watched a video on YouTube, (which I can’t remember the title btw), but that’s when it pointed out the decrease in production which was more evident in Mystique.
In the first movies Mystique was played by Rebecca Romijn, who was later replaced by Jennifer Lawerence.

And if I’m going to be completely honest, Romijn actually brought Mystique’s character to life and portrayed her so well! On the other hand, I don’t feel Lawrence was able to really tap into the certain aura of mystery, seduction, mischief and this sort of playfulness that Mystique brings. Although I will say she did a good job with what she had, because I highly doubt she chose her costume or what she would say in the script and certain direction to take!

There is an obvious depletion in the character Mystique throughout the movies with Lawrence. We see less of Mystique and rather Mystique in her human form more often, but I think that also plays into the plot of the movies, but bar that, when Mystique is in her full blue form even the costuming or special effects isn’t all that great! We can basically see Lawrence and not so much Mystique whereas, I felt this was the complete opposite with Romijn’s version of Mystique.

There were other things too but I don’t think I’ll get into that today! Lol next time though!

Did Fox really ruin the X-Men legacy;

So I’ve mentioned a number of things there, but the question is did fox really ruin x-men. To be honest, I can’t solely blame Fox for this as there are various of other things that can come to play, things like poor management and poor execution and evaluation.

But this, THIS is something that really bothers me. In the year of 2019, I re-watched the x-men series, unfortunately I didn’t get to go through all the movies, but I went through a good few of them to watch again. It was a lot more obvious to me then how some things didn’t make sense. Now don’t get me wrong I absolutely love the x-men series, it’s actually my favourite marvel film series.
The timeline was a major thing that just didn’t add up. Typically in movies, when watching them in chronological order, you would watch based on their release date but for the x-men series that’s all quite different. We are actually advised to watch them based on the time they were set in and not so much the actual release date!

Now that’s just one issue, but due to this...there’s now an even BIGGER plot whole.

The first movies ran very smoothly I will say in my opinion, but after Fox’s mishandling of the incredible series things went from amazing to questionable really quick!

I will just name a few things that left me very confused.

The BIGGEST one for me is VICTOR, what in the world happened to him!!! He straight up disappeared, NEVER to be seen again after Wolverine's origin movie in which they separated and parted ways.

Next big thing is the fact that in "X-Men: The Last Stand", Magneto lost his powers in that movie but yet regained them by the end of the same movie, but he wasn’t the only one who got that serum, countless number of people got that serum by means of torture or willingness, aka Jean Grey, but we don’t see them regaining their mutant abilities by the end of the movie!

The last pretty wild and big thing that still confuses me till this day, is the fact that Jean Grey basically relives the whole Dark Phoenix twice, TWICE.

As you can see it’s a pretty hot mess, and that’s not the end, there’s so much more I didn’t mention so much more that shocks me and absolutely scrambles my brain!

But I’m not going to blame Fox totally for this whole plot whole situation. I’ve found it’s pretty common with the different marvel film series. Sometimes it feels like they don’t go back and watch the movies they’ve put out in order to make sure their newer movie don’t contradict the previous ones!

What's to come of X-Men;

I’m honestly not sure what’s to come of X-Men. I’ve heard recently that the new Mutants series will be featured in the same universe as X-men and we might see some characters from x-men in it.
But overall we’re completely blindfolded as to what’s to come!

Final Thoughts;

Do you think Fox ruined X-Men?

For someone that’s been watching this series over and over again for years, I can agree in a sense, but as I mentioned before, there are a lot of contributing factors!

One last thing, X-Men is probably the only series in which I like the whole future, past and present thing. I think it worked in the sense that we got to see all the characters from the different timelines frequently. And I don’t know about you but I love all the characters as well as the people that play them. Typically with these type of series where they have characters for different timelines, you may tend to like one specific group but its quite the contrary for "X-Men".

Signing off;

Before signing off, I do want to mention that I will be moving more towards comics in the coming months. The first comic related post will be about V for Vendetta, and I’ll try have that out soon. I’ve already set a date for the Spider-Man blog post, so keep a look out for that! I unfortunately haven’t had a chance to watch any of the new Marvel series but I will have a chance to now that exams are over! The Tobias and Khalil dissect is soon on the way so stay tuned for that!

Alrightyyyy, it’s been great. That’s all for today Earthlings, until next time. Got to go save the world and do some superhero stuff!🦸🦸🦸
